CHRISTMAS PARTY- CARMEN'S CUBAN CAFE DEC. 5 2009
The Asoc. de Puertorriqueños Unidos de Carolina del Norte celebrated in December 5, 2009 the Christmas / Holiday Party. Everyone enjoyed the great live music of Latin Project Band and DJ. Thanks to all our members and the non members the event was succesfull and we received unwrapped toys for children in need. Here you will see part of the event in which each of us remembered our traditions of the Holidays in Puerto Rico. Jaime Ramon improvising verses to music in the style seis fajardeño, one of many varieties of música trova or música jíbara from Puerto Rico. The décima is a structure of rhyme and meter that goes back to the declamatory, improvised verse forms used by Andalucian farmers who settled in PR a few centuries ago.

Afro Caribbean Dance Co.
La música y movimiento del Grupo de Baile Afro-Caribe Vázquez es como una entrada al mundo de energía y expresión que es la tradición Afro-Caribe. El Grupo realiza una gran selección de bailes de Africa del Oeste, Brasil y las Islas del Caribe como Bachatas, merengue, cha-cha-cha, mambo, samba, bomba, rumba, salsa y plena.
El grupo es un producto de la Directora y Fundadora Rosa Vázquez y su cariño hacia su cultura Afro-Caribe. Criándose como Puertorriqueña en Nueva York, los aspectos de la cultura africana han tenido una gran influencia en su vida.
Mayaquintáo
“Mayaquintao” surgió hace 5 meses debido a la petición de una dama que preparaba un parada en Fayeteville. Todos son puertorriqueños y algunos son militares de Fort Brag. La música que tocan es de Tierra adentro, Rumba, bolero, entre otras.
